Conversation Starters & Prompt Ideas

Conversation Starters & Prompt Ideas

The Coach can do more than answer questions about your day. Here are specific ways to use it across nutrition, protocols, accountability, and analysis.

When you open the AI Coach tab, you will see a set of suggested starters under “Looking for ideas?” to get you going. But the Coach’s range extends well beyond those defaults. The examples below are organized by the kind of problem you are trying to solve.

Nutrition strategy

  • “What can I make with chicken, rice, and broccoli that fits my macros?”
  • “I’m going to Chipotle and I usually get a burrito bowl. What should I change to stay under my target?”
  • “I’m 800 calories from my target and I have dinner left. What are my options?”
  • “Break down this recipe for me: [paste a recipe URL]”
  • “I keep going over my calorie target on weekends. What patterns do you see in my logs?”
  • “I have a work dinner tonight and I’ve already eaten 1,500 calories. How should I approach it?”

Protocol creation and goal-setting

  • “I want to commit to sleeping 7 or more hours every night for the next two weeks.”
  • “Help me design a protocol for cutting 500 calories per day.”
  • “I want to exercise 4 times a week. What’s realistic based on my recent activity data?”
  • “I’m traveling next week. How should I adjust my protocol?”

Accountability and progress

  • “How am I doing this week?”
  • “What’s my biggest gap right now — sleep, nutrition, or activity?”
  • “Compare my last two weeks. Am I improving?”
  • “I missed my protocol check-in yesterday. What happened?”
  • “How has my protein intake trended over the past month?”

Analysis and patterns

  • “What does my sleep pattern look like this month?”
  • “Which meals tend to put me over my calorie target?”
  • “How does my weekend eating compare to weekdays?”
  • “Show me my macro split for the past week.”
  • “Am I getting enough sleep on nights before my workouts?”

Situational advice

  • “I’m feeling low energy today. Any suggestions based on my recent data?”
  • “I’m going to a pizza restaurant. Here’s the menu: [paste URL]. What should I order given my remaining calories?”
  • “I have a social event this weekend where food will be everywhere. What’s my strategy?”
  • “I’m about to start a cut phase. What does my current baseline look like?”

Tips for better Coach conversations

Be specific. “How’s my protein intake this week?” produces a more useful answer than “How am I doing?” The more targeted your question, the more targeted the response.

Give context when asking for strategy. “I’m going to a steakhouse and I have 700 calories left for the day” gives the Coach something concrete to work with. “What should I eat tonight?” does not.

Use follow-up questions. The Coach remembers your conversation history. If it surfaces a pattern — say, that your Thursday dinners consistently exceed your target — ask why. Then ask what to do about it. Build on the thread.

Paste URLs. Restaurant menus, recipes, fitness articles. The Coach can fetch and analyze web content in context of your profile and goals. See URL Sharing with the Coach for details.

Let the Coach propose protocols. Instead of designing rules yourself, describe what you want to achieve and let the Coach draft the protocol parameters. You can negotiate from there.
